New Delhi: The Supreme Court has stayed the Tripura High Court's order in a case related to the safety of the country's richest man Mukesh Ambani and his family. The high court had sought information from the central government on the security threat, under which the industrialist and his family have been given security in Mumbai. After which the central government moved the top court on Monday.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and J P P Padwala heard the matter. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta had sought an urgent hearing in the case. He had said that it does not come under the jurisdiction of the Tripura High Court. He further said that the high court in an interim order on June 21 had sought information from the central government about the safety of the Ambani family. The high court, while hearing a PIL, had asked the Central government to produce the original file placed with the Home Ministry regarding the apprehension and assessment of the threat to Ambani, his wife and children, on the basis of which they were granted protection.

What's the matter:-

In fact, Mukesh Ambani and his family were given security by the home ministry. An application was filed against it in the Tripura High Court. The Tripura High Court, while hearing the PIL, had issued notice to the Central Government.  Now, the Home Ministry in its petition has said that such an application should not be heard in the High Court. The Home Ministry has said that Ambani is not a resident of Tripura. The whereabouts of the petitioner have also been considered suspicious. The Home Ministry has also informed that the money is taken in lieu of security. It cannot be claimed to use public money. Earlier, the Tripura High Court's notice had asked the government to explain how there is a security threat to the Ambani family in Mumbai for which they have been provided security. At the same time, it was also written in the order that any officer from the Home Ministry should also be present in the court.

The Tripura High Court, while hearing a PIL, had issued notice to the Central Government. In it, the Home Ministry was asked to prepare a file and explain what kind of threat it poses to Mukesh Ambani and his family, due to which they have been given security by the Home Ministry.
