The Supreme Court of India on Thursday reserved its decision on the question of the law whether 100 percent reservation can be given to the Scheduled Tribes (ST) in the appointment of teachers in schools in scheduled areas. A five-member constitution bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra completed the hearing in the case.

According to the media report, the petitioner named Chebrolu Leela Prasad had appealed in the Supreme Court against the decision of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The High Court upheld the state government's decision to give 100 percent reservation to STs. The Supreme Court had referred the matter to the Constitution Bench. During the hearing, senior advocate Rajeev Dhawan, appearing for Andhra Pradesh, said that the appeal should not be overturned or the decision of the appointments already made should not be reversed. For this, 1,500 posts of teachers were created and through notification, they appointed ST teachers.

Even before the controversy over reservation has become a big controversy in the promotion, the central government is trying to find a way out of it. All the legal aspects are being discussed which is possible. In this, options, like filing a reconsideration petition against the decision of the Supreme Court and bringing the bill with it to Parliament, have also been prominently kept.
