Story- Once Surdas ji fell into a well and stayed in it for six days. On the seventh day, Lord Shri Krishna appeared and gave him vision and he saw the beauty of Lord Krishna. It is said that he asked Lord Krishna that "I should not see any other person and object from the eyes with which I saw you". Therefore, after leaving the well, he became blind as before. It is said that there used to be no equal writer with him and he used to write the hymns coming out of his mouth simultaneously. On many occasions Lord Krishna himself used to work as a writer in the absence of a writer.

Once there, the music-emperor Tansen was singing a very succulent and devotional post of Surdas in front of Emperor Akbar. It is said that pleased with his persuasion and humility, Surdas ji sang a verse which meant "O mind! You love madhav. What is there in the impermanence of the world?” The king was very impressed by his unmatched devotion and Shri Surdas ji was worshiped in the true sense. Not only this, but it is said to be the avatar of Uddhav.
