Lucknow: Finance, Medical Education and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Suresh Kumar Khanna presented nomination letter on behalf of BJP candidate Syed Zafar Islam for the by-election for Rajya Sabha seat from the country's largest state UP. Syed Zafar Islam is undergoing treatment due to being corona positive, so he could not come to present his nomination letter. Mr. Suresh Kumar Khanna presented the nomination letter in two copies as the proponent.

Also, this by-election is to be held in the vacant seat after the death of SP Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh. Election Officer Brij Bhushan Dubey said that the last date for filing nomination letter for the election is 01 September 2020. The nomination letters will be examined on 02 September and the last date for withdrawal of nomination is 04 September as well as the election will be made on 11 September 2020. Rural Development Minister Rajendra Pratap Singh alias Moti Singh, Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh, Women Welfare Minister Swati Singh, Labor Minister Swami Prasad Maurya, Minister of State for Basic Education Satish Chandra Dwivedi and BJP State President Shri Swatantradev Singh and others were present on the occasion. Nomination has been filed.

On the other hand, Industrial Development Minister Satish Mahana Corona has been found infected in the state government. He gave information about this by tweeting and said that those who have come in contact with him in the last few days should get the inquiry done. Three people of his staff have also been found infected. Corona infection is increasing rapidly in Kanpur and many leaders, including the minister-legislator, are falling prey. The state cabinet minister Satish Mahana, on Friday, underwent a corona check of 13 of his and staff members, in which all were said to be negative.
