VARANASI: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is currently engaged in its scientific survey of the Gyanvapi complex, and according to an advocate representing the Hindu side, there might be a slight delay in starting today's survey due to the fifth Monday falling in the ongoing 'Sawan' month.

Today marks the fourth day of ASI's ongoing survey. Sudhir Tripathi, the advocate representing the Hindu side, stated, "Survey work is underway, and the Anjuman Intezamia Committee is also cooperating with the survey. However, there might be a minor delay in commencing the survey due to today being the fifth Monday of the 'Sawan' month."

Another advocate, Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi, representing the Hindu side in the case, praised the systematic and scientific approach of ASI's survey. He mentioned that measurements are being carried out, and the report will be submitted to the court once the survey is completed.

During discussions with reporters in Varanasi on Sunday, Vishnu Shankar Jain, the advocate representing the Hindu side, expressed satisfaction with the Muslim side's cooperation with the court's order and their full support during the survey. He commended ASI's use of modern techniques in their work and assured that they will continue to follow the court's directives in the future.

Advocate Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi revealed that further investigation of the mosque's premises is ongoing. "ASI is conducting their work seamlessly, performing necessary analyses. Additionally, they are investigating the entire campus, including photography, measurements, and mapping of the three tombs. They have also employed GDPR machines in their study," Chaturvedi stated.

The scientific survey of the complex, located adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, commenced on Friday following the Allahabad High Court's order, granting ASI permission to determine whether the 17th-century mosque was built on the site of a pre-existing Hindu temple structure, excluding the Wuzu Khana area.

On Thursday, the Allahabad High Court dismissed the plea filed by the Muslim side, the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee, challenging the Varanasi court's order allowing ASI to conduct a scientific survey of the Gyanvapi mosque premises, except for the 'Wazukhana' area, where a "Shivling" was claimed to have been discovered last year.
