After learning about Rhea's plea, Vikas Singh, the lawyer for Sushant's family, alleged that "someone in Mumbai Police is helping Rhea Chakraborty". Actually Vikas Singh said in a conversation with a website, 'If she (Rhea) has gone to court, she should have filed a petition for CBI inquiry. The FIR has been lodged in Patna, now he (Rhea) has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking stay in Mumbai and transfer the investigation. What more proof is needed that someone in Mumbai Police is helping her.

Apart from this, while talking to a news channel, his lawyer had made many shocking revelations in the case in the past too. During that time he had told that 'Sushant's family later filed a complaint against Rhea Chakraborty in February, four months before the tragic demise of the actor. In the complaint, the family alleged that Sushant is in a bad company and he fears that something untoward may happen to him. The family had requested the Mumbai Police to keep an eye on the actor.
