Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in a letter to PM Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed apprehension that the situation in Covid could take a serious turn if the supply of corona vaccine is not increased in the state. He alleged that even after the population density of the state was very high, the state was getting "very low doses" of the vaccine, and Mamata appealed to PM Modi to increase the supply of vaccines.

Hitting out at the state government, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari termed the Mamata Banerjee government's policies as "biased." He said that due to the policies of the State Government, the People Of Bengal are not able to get the Covid-19 vaccine and are suffering. Suvendu claimed that at least nine lakh vials of vaccine sent by the Centre have been wasted. In a meeting, Suvendu Adhikari told BJP health volunteers, "Completely reversed her old claims, CM Mamata changed her stand and is now cracking down on the central government for the slow pace of vaccination in her state.''

Suvendu alleged, "The Trinamool Congress government has purchased only a few lakh vials of vaccine, while other states have done a better job on this front. The ruling party wants to consider human life, the lives of 10 crore people of West Bengal.''
