Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 was launched earlier today by Suzuki Motorcycles India at ₹1.71 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Alongside the Gixxer SF 250, the Japanese motorcycle maker also launched the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF at ₹1.1 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). While the Gixxer SF is a facelift of the existing 155 cc SF bike, the Gixxer SF 250 is an all-new quarter-litre offering. And at the launch today, Suzuki Motorcycle also confirmed that it will soon launch a naked version of the Gixxer SF 250 to round off its Gixxer line-up in the 250 cc segment.

It is to be noted that the naked version, which is likely to be christened the Suzuki Gixxer 250, will be stripped of any fairing to reduce weight and improve the bike's agility. The front of the upcoming Suzuki Gixxer bike is expected to be very different from that of its fully-faired sibling and we'll be waiting to see if the company Suzuki will retain the the three-piece LED headlamp unit as seen on the Gixxer SF 250 on the naked bike. With that being said, we don't think there will be a lot of changes on the Suzuki Gixxer 250 -- well, except the missing fairing and a different fascia. Furthermore, the shape of the alloy wheels as well as the tail light is also likely to be carried forward as is. However, the Gixxer 250 naked bike might get a higher seating position with different handlebars so as to differentiate the riding position on the latter.

In terms of features, we do not expect anything to change. So, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 should get the all-digital instrument panel with all the necessary readouts. For safety, the naked Gixxer 250 will get dual-channel ABS as standard in all probability. Talking about the powertrain, the engine will be the 249 cc single-cylinder oil-cooled unit that produces 26.13 bhp and 22.6 Nm of torque on the SF 250; but it is likely to be slightly more powerful on the naked version owing to the reduced weight. This engine will continue to be offered in combination with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Other mechanical bits on the Gixxer 250, including the suspension setup, will probably remain the same. So, expect the naked version to get telescopic forks and a mono shock with a swingarm. The bike will also get disc brakes at the front and rear. Talking about the price, we think the Suzuki Gixxer 250 naked will be slightly more affordable than its fully-faired sibling, simply because of the lack of fairing. However, it stands to be seen how significant this difference will be once the vehicle is launched.
