Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Swami Prasad Maurya has lost from the Fazilnagar assembly seat of Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh. Surendra Kumar Kushwaha of BJP has won from this seat. Surendra Kushwaha got 50,214 (53.4%) votes from this seat, while SP's Swami Prasad Maurya was reduced to 23,825 (25.33%) votes. In this way their margin of defeat was more than 26,000. BSP candidate Ilyas came third with 14708 (16.31%) votes.

Let us tell you that in the 2017 UP assembly elections, Swami Prasad Maurya had won from Padrauna of Kushinagar, but at that time he fought on a BJP ticket. Before that, he had also been an MLA on the same seat on a BSP ticket. After being a cabinet minister for 5 years in CM Yogi Adityanath's government, he switched sides and rode on Akhilesh Yadav's cycle at the last moment of the election. Maurya had secured 93,649 (44.79%) votes in the 2017 election, defeating Javed Iqbal of the BSP, who secured 53,097 (25.4%) votes.

On the other hand, if we talk about Fazilnagar seat, from here Ganga Singh Kushwaha of BJP had fed the lotus by getting 10,2778 (48.57%) votes in the 2017 assembly elections, when Vishwanath Singh was second in 60,856 (28.76%) and third number. But Jagdish Singh of BSP got 34250 (16.19%) votes. Vishwanath Singh has won from this seat 5 times. Whereas Ganga Singh Kushwaha had won on BJP ticket in 2012 as well before 2017.
