Swami Vivekananda (1863–1902 CE) was a Hindu monk and patriotic saint of India and according to the English calendar, he was born on 12 January 1863 into an aristocratic Bengali family of Calcutta. Swami Vivekananda's Pre-monastic name was Narendra Nath Dutt. He was born with the nature of yogis and meditated at a very young age. He was born into a financially prosperous family. His father, Vishwanath Dutt was a lawyer who excelled in his career. His mother's name was Bhuvaneshwari Devi. Swami Vivekananda was born in Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta) and was born on 12 January 1863. He died on 4 July 1902 in Kolkata.

- Swami Vivekananda had gone through a spiritual crisis when he was unemployed. When his name was combined with the name of Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa by one of his English professors.

- The financial crisis for Swami Vivekananda's family started in 1884 after his father's death. When rich women tried to woo them, but they said, remove these useless desires and call upon God.

Apart from the programs and cultural programs organized by the government, Vivekananda's birthday is also celebrated in Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. To mark the occasion, Mangal Aarti, devotional songs, meditation, and Sandhya Aarti are performed about the teachings of Vivekananda. Apart from India, Vivekananda's birthday is also celebrated at the Vedanta Society in Toronto, Canada. The society tries to spread the teaching inspired by Vivekananda's Vedanta to the world.
