New Delhi: Online food delivery is expected to be expensive in the near future. It will be brainstormed at the GST Council meeting. The fitment panel of the committee has recommended bringing food delivery apps within the ambit of at least 5 percent GST. In such a situation, it can be expensive to order food from Swiggy, Zomato, etc. The GST Council Committee will meet on Friday. The agenda of the meeting includes talking about this issue.

Tell you that the GST Council is scheduled to meet in Lucknow on Friday. The present system has said that the government will lose 2,000 crores rupees in taxes. The fitment panel of the GST Council has recommended that food aggregators be treated as e-commerce operators. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council is scheduled to convene on September 17. The GST Council headed by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also includes state finance ministers. The council meeting is scheduled to be held in Lucknow on Friday. The last meeting of the GST Council was held on June 12 through video conferencing.

The meeting will discuss a number of important issues. It is also being said that the meeting may consider bringing petrol and diesel under GST. The meeting may review concessional rates on essential items related to coronavirus among other things.
