Indian Cycling team barred from participating UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships

Indian Cycling team that supposed to participate in The UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships in Switzerland were restricted to enter the country as the Switzerland Embassy rejected the visa applications of the contestants.

The team comprising Amar Singh, Bilal Ahmad Dar, Gurpreet Singh, Manoj Sahu, Naman Kapil & Venkappa Shivappa going to participate in the 2018’s edition of the event which will be held on 15-19 August.

The embassy claimed that ‘justification for the purpose, conditions, and the intended stay wasn't provided', 'info submitted regarding the same wasn't reliable', 'intention to leave the territory of Member States before visa expiry couldn't be ascertained'

In the revert efforts, Secretary General of Cycling Federation of India & Asian Cycling Confederation requested the respective embassy to issue the required visa to the cycling team so that they can participate in the event.

The UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships, the competition among junior riders for the various disciplines and distances in track cycling this time getting held in Aigle city of  Switzerland. The current events in the competition are time trial, keirin, individual pursuit, team pursuit, points race, scratch race, sprint, team sprint, omnium and, for men only, Madison.
