New Delhi: Amidst the rising outbreak of corona virus, there is relief news that scientists have prepared a new test kit through which the novel coronavirus can be identified immediately, apart from more precise methods. So far millions of people have been tested with coronavirus, using a PCR-dependent kit, a sensitive method that increases SARS-CoV-2 RNA from the patient's swab to detect even the smallest amount of virus. However, according to research published in the ACS Nano Journal after assuming a macabre form of the epidemic, the stress in the lab is increasing due to increased pressure on research.

Now, researchers at the ETH Zurich-based Institute of Environmental Engineering, Switzerland, among many researchers, have designed a test based on plasmonic photothermal sensing that can potentially be tested with great accuracy. The relationship between molecules on the surface of a metallic nano structure developed as a local change in the refractive index can be detected.
