Damascus: Israel allegedly carried out airstrikes early on Thursday in the Damascus region, injuring two soldiers and causing property damage, according to Syrian state media.
Around 1:30 a.m., loud explosions were heard over the Syrian capital, and the Syrian air defences were reportedly "confronting hostile targets," according to the SANA state news agency. According to SANA's citation of an unnamed military official, some missiles were shot down by air defences.
In recent years, Israel has attacked numerous targets inside the government-controlled areas of Syria, including the airports in Aleppo and Damascus, but it rarely publicly acknowledges any particular attacks.

Israel claims to attack the bases of militant organisations with ties to Iran, including Lebanon's Hezbollah, which has dispatched thousands of soldiers to aid Syrian President Bashar Assad's forces.

Last week, an Israeli airstrike on Aleppo's airport in the north caused it to be out of service for two days. Israel has targeted seaports in government-controlled areas in addition to airports in an apparent effort to stop Iranian arms shipments to militant groups backed by Tehran, including Hezbollah.
