'Strategy was to hold bypolls in Ramzan to reduce the count': Tabassum Hasan

On Monday, during the by-polls of Kairana constituency in the politically important state Uttar Pradesh, the elections has gained a prominent momentum to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In this, the Kairana by-poll will aslo witness the joint Opposition taking on the ruling BJP. 

According to the states, the area is located around 630 Km from the capital city of Lucknow. The Lok Sabha constituency has 5 Assembly sections in Lucknow which are: Shamli, Thana Bhawan and Kairana in Shamli district, and Gangoh and Nakur in Saharanpur district.

As per the records form First Post, there are nearly 17 Lakh voters in the constituency with a significant number of Muslims, Jats and Dalit voters.

On the reports of fault in the EVM machines, the RLD candidate for Kairana Lok Sabha seat, Tabassum Hasan, after writing to EC over faulty EVMs&VVPATs, said in an interview that she have been continuously receiving objections against the voting machines. She also said that the opposition party hasn't expected so many people to come out to vote in the month of Ramzan. She also alleged that the initial strategy was to hold elections in Ramzan so that people won't vote.

Meanwhile, earlier, Former Uttar Pradeh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav urges people to exercise their franchise vote despite faulty EVMs in Kairana.
