Taiwan: Taiwan has denied claims that a PLA warship passed off the coast of Huilien County in the east of the island during important war games, calling the claim "disruptive".

Taiwan's defense ministry said in a statement on Sunday that "reports of a PLA warship entering our territorial waters close to Hualian are misinformation and the public should not be misled." "Our forces are faithfully performing their duties to safeguard the security of the country," it said.

The image comes after state news agency Xinhua monitored a PLA Marine on board the Chi Yang-class battleship ROCS Lan Yang off the coast of Taiwan on Saturday. In a video of a joint military exercise that was also made public by the PLA Eastern Theater Command, a chimney can be seen up close, raising the possibility that a warship is in the vicinity of the island.

The chimney of the Ho-ping power station can be seen in the photo, although the PLA did not identify the location of the photographs' capture. This power station is located on the east coast of Taiwan.

Although the mainland did not formally claim that a ship entered within 12 nautical miles of the island, satellite images from Friday morning showed the Nanjing 155 destroyer 11.78 km off the coast of Huilien and Ho-ping Power Station. , according to a report. Mainland newspaper Global Times.

According to its military regulations, if warships or aircraft intrude into Taiwan's airspace, the island's armed forces must act immediately. Other measures must be taken to either disperse the craft, or alert the superiors to order them to strike.

In retaliation for US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to the island, the People's Liberation Army has historically conducted large-scale warfare exercises close to Taiwan.

A retired PLA colonel named Yu Gang previously claimed that sailing close to the coast of Taiwan demonstrated the PLA's willingness to apply pressure and highlight the huge disparity in military strength between the two sides of the strait.

According to Alexander Huang Chieh-Cheng, professor of international relations and strategic studies at Tamkang University in New Taipei City, ROCS Lan Yang's photo shows a very close encounter. However, without additional information, he was unable to pinpoint the location of the PLA ship or its distance from Taiwan's coastline.

A photo and a video of the Taiwanese destroyer Magong tracking down and keeping an eye on the PLA Manshan-class warship in eastern Taiwan waters were also made public by the island's ministry.
