Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen called on China to resolve their disputes amicably during her New Year address at the presidential office in Taipei on Saturday, saying Beijing should prevent the development of "military adventurism."

Tsai was outspoken in her opposition to China's policies ""Military invasions" are "unhelpful to the preservation of regional peace and stability," she added. She reaffirmed Taiwan's position, saying the country "would neither cave to coercion nor act rashly when we have support."
