According to reports, the Taliban has also issued a letter ordering a ban on shaving or trimming beards in all salons in Helmand province of Afghanistan. The letter says, "In Helmand province of southern Afghanistan, the Taliban has banned stylish hairstyles and shaving beards.''

According to reports, the ministry of Islamic Orientation officials had a meeting with representatives of hairdressing salons in the provincial capital Lashkar Gah to warn against hairstyling and shaving beards. The Taliban has also banned any kind of music playing in hairdressing salons.
