Taliban deputy spokesperson Inamullah Samangani acknowledged the trip on Friday, saying that the visit is based on an invitation from the Norwegian government. Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi will lead the delegation.

The Taliban delegation will also attend a high-level forum on Afghanistan, with an emphasis on girls' access to education and human rights, according to the Foreign Ministry in Oslo.

"These meetings do not imply that the Taliban has gained legitimacy or recognition. However, we must speak with the country's de facto authorities. We must allow the current political situation to exacerbate the humanitarian crisis "Anniken Huitfeldt, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said.
