"The Taliban are going to kill our friends", said a woman who arrived in Delhi on a flight from Kabul on Sunday. A total of 129 wanderers were onboard the Delhi-bound Air India flight that took off from Kabul at the same time the Taliban invaded Afghanistan's capital city. With Ashraf Ghani stepping down as president of Afghanistan, the Taliban are now in control of the war-torn country. A three-member council has now been made with former Afghan president Hamid Karzai as one of the members to oversee the transition of power to the Taliban.

Speaking to media outlets at Delhi's IGI airport on Sunday, the woman who arrived from Kabul broke down and said, "I cannot believe that the world abandoned Afghanistan." Our friends are going to get killed. They [Taliban] are going to kill us. Our women are not going to have any more rights," added the woman.

Another passenger who took the Air India flight AI244 from Kabul to Delhi, Sonini Sarkar, told the media that she did not witness any violence on her way out of Kabul. Sarkar worked for a non-profit in Afghanistan.
