Kabul: Since the beginning of the month of Ramadan, considered extremely sacred to the Muslim community in Afghanistan, 15 suicides and dozens of other attacks have been carried out by the Taliban. This information was given by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Afghanistan. According to the ministry, a total of 255 civilians have been killed in 200 blasts and 15 suicide bombings during this period of Ramadan, which began on April 13. More than 500 people have also been injured during this period.

"I thank all the security forces," Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said Tuesday, according to Tolonews. They prevented more than 800 incidents and arrested several terrorists. Action will be taken against them. According to data received by ToloNews, the number of civilian deaths has increased by 20 per cent during the last month (April 13 to May 12). Earlier on Sunday night, the Taliban announced that they would observe a three-day ceasefire for the Eid festival.

Later on Monday, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani also directed all Afghan forces to observe a ceasefire during Eid. Us Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad on Tuesday welcomed announcements by the Taliban and the Afghan government to maintain a ceasefire in the country during the Eid festival.
