Ambulance stopped for 'minister' here, police kept saluting

Chennai: Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu witnessed a shocking incident on Monday (August 8). An ambulance was stopped in Kumbakonam city to give way to the convoy of state Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi. The ambulance waited till the minister's convoy passed, sounding sirens. Ambil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has criticised the incident after a video of the ambulance being stopped near a bridge in Kumbakonam for the convoy to pass went viral.

 

According to media reports, around 20-25 cars were present in the minister's convoy, which was going to review the flood prevention work. It is clearly visible in the viral video that the ambulance had to wait till the entire convoy passed. According to the video, a policeman is also seen standing near the ambulance and saluting when the cars pass. The minister was accompanied by the collector and other officials. The ambulance found its way after all the vehicles in the ministers' convoy left. After being criticised by people on social media, Ambil Mahesh clarified that "Only one part of Anaikatti bridge was open for traffic as the other part was being repaired. The bridge is narrow, so vehicles were being allowed into a line.''

At the same time, opposition parties have criticized this incident. He has demanded action against the minister as well as those involved. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has said that ministers have become insensitive towards the general public. Speaking to the channel, AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan reminded that the chief minister had said that he was going to reduce his convoy by 50 per cent, which has not been done yet. Bjp spokesperson Narayanan Tirupathy has demanded that Tamil Nadu CHIEF Minister MK Stalin should suspend those responsible for it, including the minister.
