The anti-NEET Bill, which was returned by State Governor RN Ravi a few days ago, was re-adopted by the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Tuesday. The resolution was passed with a thud of desks, and Speaker M Appavu announced that it had been unanimously approved.

M K Stalin, the Chief Minister, was the driving force behind the bill's passage.

The House was rocked twice during the debate over the bill when AIADMK's C Vijayabaskar, the previous regime's Health Minister, traced the origins of the National Entrance cum Eligibility Test to the Congress-led UPA administration in 2010, which was opposed by Congress members.

K Palaniswami, the Leader of the Opposition, stated that his party member was simply presenting the facts.

Referring to Governor Ravi's statement on the bill's return last week, the chief minister stated that the explanations he provided were incorrect. Ravi said that the Justice AK Rajan panel's recommendations on NEET were based on "guess," but Stalin stated that they were data-driven and based on the opinions of over one lakh people.
