Tamil Nadu: At least 1.6 lakh people need to be vaccinated per day

Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu will need to vaccinate at least 1.6 lakh people per day, to complete the immunization of all adults, including a single dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Healthcare workers, on the other hand, claim that it is becoming increasingly difficult to take patients for vaccination, be it the first or second dose. Daily vaccinations ranged from 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh for most weeks.

According to Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan, the rush we have seen at immunization facilities this month is much less than what happened in September. He further said that most of those who requested the vaccine have been given. He was battling apprehension at this time. This is especially true for those who have only taken the first dose. Though the state had over 40 lakh doses of vaccination, the average daily injections in October were 20% less than 4.8 lakh in September. In keeping with the state's initiatives, from their homes to vaccination and mega camps for the welfare of the people, about 30% of adults and more than half of the senior residents of the state have been able to avoid the vaccine altogether.

However, experts in public health have advocated rapid surveys to have a better understanding of public activity across the state. Simultaneously, the state should begin enforcing the responsibility by setting up required vaccine certification or weekly RTPCR for adults in jobs, schools, shops, grocers, malls or theaters. When people are forced to put time and effort on weekly testing, vaccinations are more likely to be chosen.
