Tamil Nadu bans the use of plastic and its products from January 2019

The state of Tamil Nadu announces a ban on plastic products after the world environment day. The theme of the Worl environment day 2018 was “beat plastic pollution” the issues were taken very well by the state ministry and it is officially announced that from January 2019 no use of plastics products will be tolerated in the state. The Chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami announced this in the state legislative assembly.
 

Although The ban will be basically on plastic carry bags, plastic plates, plastic cups, plastic flags, small plastic sachets used in packaging water among all the plastic products. 
 But the use of plastic in packing milk, curd, oil and medicine have not been banned, They can be used for only these purpose of packaging. 
Making a suo motu statement in the Assembly,  the chief minister straight away called for a ban in the state for plastic.
According to the sources, the announcement was based on the recommendations from the former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. 


He threw some light on the harmful effects of plastic in our life and environment. It also blocks the drainage and hinders the waste management and the lower groundwater level each year is an outcome of this only.
