Tamil Nadu government passes this bill for the reservation of medical candidates

There has been a lot of rift in the government of Tamil Nadu regarding the NEET exam that just took the ministers into a scuffle. The Tamil Nadu legislative assembly on Tuesday approved a bill to maintain a 7.5% quota limit within the current reservation in medical undergraduate courses for the students belonging to the state government schools. This bill will be applicable for students clearing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). After the execution of NEET, there were reports that the description of government school students in medical colleges in the state had degraded drastically.

Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappi Palaniswamy had earlier requested the central government to spare the state from NEET. For nearly a decade, Tamil Nadu had removed the medical entrance exam, saying that it led to severe stress among students and that the students belonging to the poor class could not afford private coaching to clear the entrance. Tollywood actor Suriya earlier termed NEET as "Manuneedhi Thervu", implying that students from wealthy families profited with NEET exam and the poor were left out to suffer.

The 45-year-old actor also invited for a movement for a united voice against NEET, saying, "NEET kills doctor dreams of children from poor families. We shouldn't be silent spectators of student deaths." Over 1.17 lakhs aspirants appeared for NEET examinations 2020 across different centers in Tamil Nadu.
