Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor Banwari Lal Purohit has broken the silence about the release of the culprits of the Rajiv Gandhi assassination, why they have not taken a decision on it so far. Actually, a decision has to be taken on the release of 7 people found guilty in the Rajiv Gandhi murder case. Purohit said that they are waiting for the monitoring agency's report for the release of the culprits.

A multi-disciplinary monitoring agency of CBI has been formed for the release of the culprits. The Tamil Nadu government has told the Madras High Court that the Governor is waiting for the final report of the monitoring agency for what further action is to be taken in the Rajiv Gandhi murder case. A few days ago the Madras High Court had said that the Governor should either accept or reject the recommendation of the Tamil Nadu government. It should be completed within a set period because it cannot be stopped indefinitely.

The court's direction came when Perarivalan, a convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, filed a petition in the court. Perarivalan has sought a 90-day parole citing his health. According to the court, the governor cannot hold the case for long and the state government has been instructed to take the first response from the governor. Let us tell you that, the Tamil Nadu Cabinet has advocated the release of 7 convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination in September 2018, but Governor Purohit has neither accepted nor rejected this recommendation.
