Elections for the Vellore Lok Sabha seat, which was canceled in April, will be held on August 5. The Election Commission of India made the announcement on Thursday. According to a press report released by the ECI, Vellore will be elected on August 5 and counting will take place on August 9. The filing of nominations for the Vellore Parliamentary constituency will end on July 18. The election for the Vellore Lok Sabha seat, which was to be held in the second phase of the 2019 general elections on April 18, was canceled at the last moment.

Multiple reports -- from the Director General of Income Tax (Inquiry), the Election Commission and other officials -- were finally canceled on the search and seizure of a cement warehouse in Vellore.

On April 14, the Election Commission of India wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind requesting the Re-election of the EC for the Vellore Lok Sabha elections. The final order of the Election Commission says, "The elections are conducted by some candidates and some members of the political party/political parties. Illegal activities of activists allow the electoral process to proceed and conduct elections. The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will be in force in Vellore until the election is over.
