Chennai: A case has been registered against four accused of allegedly harassing and assaulting a Dalit youth in the Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu. All these have also been arrested by the local police. The 18-year-old Dalit youth has claimed that four men beat him and urinated on him for objecting to a derogatory word.
A case has been registered against the 18-year-old youth for registering a complaint against four people. In his Tahrir, a Dalit youth has claimed that a debate broke out between him and a young man named Pradeep when he was fishing with his friends in Thanikondan village. The Dalit youth said that Pradeep used a derogatory term for his caste, to which he protested. The victim said that after this Pradeep and three others pulled him into a car and took him to a deserted place. Here they beat him fiercely and then urinated on him.
Based on the complaint of the victim, the police have registered four cases under sections 365, 342, 506, 294 (b), 323 of the Indian Penal Code, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act. Police have arrested Pradeep and his three accomplices on the basis of the case.
