Chennai: A shocking incident has been reported at Pollachi in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. A 14-year-old girl has been found to be 5 months pregnant. After receiving the news of her pregnancy, there was an uproar. The family lodged a police complaint. Subsequent investigations revealed that the 14-year-old minor had been raped by more than 6 people. In fact, a 14-year-old girl loved a 16-year-old boy. The boy sexually abused the girl. The girl was then raped by five friends of the boy. It was only after the girl became five months pregnant that her family came to know about it.

A police complaint was then lodged. Police have arrested five youths, two of them minors, in the case. Pollachi police say the girl is a class X student and mostly lived alone in the house, her father and mother used to work as labourers. The girl had fallen in love with an 11th student living in the neighbourhood. After that, the two were having a physical relationship. Police say five of his friends besides the boy raped the girl at different places in the months of January and February. Among the sexual abusers are the uncle of a girl and five neighbours. The girl was admitted to the hospital on Monday after having a stomach ache, after which she was found to be pregnant.

Police say the girl was raped by her boyfriend (16-year-old), a young man (17 years old) who worked as a wall painting, as well as S Nagaraj (19 years), T Praveen (20 years) and V Muthumugan (19 years). In addition, the girl's 31-year-old uncle M Maharajothi also committed rape. All of them committed rape at three different places.  Based on the girl's complaint, police have registered a case under the Pocso Act and arrested five persons including two minors. At the same time, a search operation is being launched to trace one of the accused.
