Tamil Nadu teen kills self after failing to clear NEET-UG exam

Tamil Nadu: In the Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu, a 19-year-old  girl student is reported to have committed herself after failing to pass the NEET UG-2022 exams,  Chennai Police said on Thursday. The girl was found hanging in her home.

According to the police, Laksha Swetha, a resident of Cholapuram in Indira Nagar in Thirumullaivoyal, has been identified as the deceased. The student was also enrolled in the Philippines' second-year MBBS programme.

Swetha, who graduated from Class 12 in 2019, was the daughter of a headmistress of a government school. Before relocating to the Philippines, she shared a residence with her mother because her mother had cut ties with her father.
"She killed herself in the hallway by hanging herself with a shawl after knowing her failure. Last night, the NEET results were announced.

 His mother Amuda requested an ambulance around 3:30. and the mother hurriedly brought her child to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital (KMCH), Kilpauk, Chennai "police reported.

In a similar incidnet earlier on September 2, a 21-year-old medical aspirant, preparing for the NEET died by suicide. She was identified as Rajalakshmi. It is said that having failed to  fulfil her father's dream of becoming a doctor, Rajalakshmi, who took the NEET test for the third time, allegedly committed suicide when the answer keys for the exam were made publicly available online.

In another report, a  17-year-old girl in Kallakurichi also committed suicide last month, allegedly as a result of being tortured by teachers. 

Among the 17.64 lakh applicants who took the medical entrance exam, Tanishka from Rajasthan received the highest ranking in the NEET UG-2022 results, which were released on Wednesday evening. Vatsa Ashish Batra of Delhi and Hrishikesh Nagbhushan Gangule of Karnataka respectively took second and third place. Notably, Tanishka's score (715) was the same as that of the people in the second, third, and fourth places.

There are 32 male applicants that made it into the top 50 candidates in India, while there are 18 female candidates who performed exceptionally well across the board. 

Rucha Pawashe (715) from Karnataka, Errabelly Sidharth Rao (711) from Telangana, Rishi Vinay Balse (710) from Maharashtra, Arpit Narang (710) from Punjab, Krishna SR (710) from Karnataka, Zeel Vipul Vyas (710) from Gujarat, and Haziq Parveez Lone (710) from Jammu and Kashmir are some other individuals who appeared in the top 10 nationally.

Out of the total number of candidates who took the exam, 4,29,160 men and 5,63,902 women passed the NEET UG 2022.

On July 17, the undergraduate medical admission examination had been held. The tests were conducted at  as many as 3570 centres spread across 497 cities in the country and 14 cities out of India.
