Chennai: Daily Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu are registering a steady decline. In view of this, the Stalin government in the state has relaxed the lockdown norms. The exemption also includes reopening of places of worship and malls in four districts and revival of public transport in 23 other districts.

The Tamil Nadu government has also allowed showrooms and jewellery shops to be reopened in 23 districts of the state from Monday under a relaxation in lockdown rules. According to the report, an official release said that additional relaxation has been given following the arguments of people and traders. CM MK Stalin has ordered the opening of places of worship and shopping malls, extending the lockdown by July 5. However, the concession is restricted to Chennai, Chengalpet, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts. Other districts have also been given additional exemption from existing restrictions.

The government has divided 38 districts into three different parts in view of the Covid-19 cases with a view to relaxing the restrictions. Since June 14, the Tamil Nadu government has allowed more exemptions for 27 districts and includes reopening government-run retail liquor shops and salons. After registering a steady decline in the number of corona cases, the government is relaxing sanctions.
