Chennai: In Tamil Nadu, a wedding has come into the limelight due to the onion, because the newly married couple has been given onion as a gift here. Yes, a couple from Ponneri in Thiruvallur has been given three kilograms of onion gifts as a gift to the wedding reception. The reason behind this unique gift is the fast rising prices of the onion. According to the report, onion prices have reached 125 rupees a kg.

Sheeba Suvitha, a government nurse resident of Thiruvottiyur, is married to engineer Senthil Kumar. This couple had kept the reception, in which all the gifts were received. But the friends of Sheeba who came from RSRM, a government hospital in Royapuram, gave such a unique gift, which surprised everyone. Sheeba has told that, 'My friends from the hospital- Hemlata, Bharti, Incredible and Ezhilarasi, Mohana and Raji of Pozhaneri Government Hospital also gave me the gift. This gift was packed like a bouquet and its upper part was like a bow. Seeing this, I thought that it has flowers, but after looking carefully, it came out that it has onions.

Sheeba further said that both she and her husband were surprised to find such a gift. He told that there were a lot of people on stage at that time, so he could not react immediately.
