Veteran actor Alok Nath was accused of rape by TV show producer Vanita Nanda during India’s MeToo campaign. After getting accused, Alok nath was featured in the trailer of De De Pyaar De which gave a new turn to the controvery. The Tanushree Dutta – Ajay Devgn controversy took a new turn after Tanushree’s sister Ishita Dutta took a stand and reacted to her sister’s open letter about Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn, branding him as a hypocrite and a show off.
After release of the trialer Tanushree’s sister Ishita Dutta has now openly defended the De De Pyaar De star. Ishita, who played Ajay Devgn’s daughter in the film Drishyam, shares a close relationship with the actor. While she stands by her sister Tanushree and the lauds her for supporting the truth, Ishita also recognises that the accusations on Ajay Devgn are uncalled for as there was nothing that the actor could do once production wrapped for De De Pyaar De.
Ishita Dutta told Bombay Times, “I understand that this could land me in a precarious situation, but what’s right is right. My sister is supporting the truth. Not at all. My equation with Ajay sir is separate and bears no connection with what my sister feels about the situation. I don’t think he will be upset or angry with me for what she has to say. Vatsal and I have a strong equation with him. Ajay sir isn’t the producer of the film, so he can’t be solely responsible. It has to be a collective decision. I believe that they (the makers of the film) couldn’t have possibly done anything about it.”
Tanushree has expressed her displeasure with Ajay Devgn for letting a raped-accused Alok Nath, screen-time in his film. In her anger, she even called Ajay a hypocrite and an overrated actor, among other things. However, Ajay Devgn revealed his response that the film, De De Pyaar De, had already wrapped production before Alok Nath was accused of sexual harrassment.
