NEW DELHI: The case of sexual harassment against Tarun Tejpal, former editor of Tehelka magazine, will continue in a Goa court. Tejpal had moved the Supreme Court seeking quashing of the charges. That was rejected by the apex court. The court said the charges are of serious category. It is an attack on the privacy of the victim. The trial has already been delayed. Tarun Tejpal is accused of raping his colleague. The court also said that the trial in the case will be completed within six months.

Tarun Tejpal had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking quashing of rape charges against him. Tejpal argues that the rape charges against him are false and without any basis. However, Goa police have rejected the claim. Police say it is a trial case. Tejpal is accused of raping a junior colleague in a hotel elevator at an annual event organised by Tehelka magazine in Goa in 2013.

In September 2017, the Mapsa Court in Goa framed charges of rape, sexual harassment and wrongful hostage. Tejpal refused to accept the guilt and the trial started after that. Tarun Tejpal had challenged the trial court charges in the apex court and sought acquittal in the case. The matter had been in the limelight.
