Tata Electronics is set to resume operations at its Hosur facility on Thursday, October 3, following a fire that occurred last week and forced a temporary shutdown. This plant, located in Tamil Nadu, is known for producing iPhone cases. Despite the incident, experts believe it will not significantly impact Apple's sales during the festive season.

The company announced that it has been diligently investigating the cause of the fire, which broke out on Saturday morning. Local residents reported being jolted awake by a loud explosion, followed by flames engulfing the facility. The site, situated in Krishnagiri district, was secured immediately after the fire started, which caused considerable damage to Tata Electronics' production line, as reported by Business Standard.

At the time of the incident, around 1,500 workers were present during the morning shift. Fortunately, all employees were safely evacuated, as confirmed by officials. Videos from the scene depicted thick smoke rising from the plant. A few workers who experienced respiratory issues were treated at a nearby private hospital. The plant is approximately two and a half hours from Bengaluru.

Around 10 to 12 fire trucks were dispatched to manage the fire, which took several hours to extinguish. High-ranking officials, including members of the legislative assembly (MLAs) and senior government representatives, arrived to assess the damage.

A spokesperson for Tata Electronics reassured that the company's emergency protocols successfully ensured the safety of all employees. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

Following the incident, employees were granted seven days of leave, although some reported losing their mobile phones in the fire. Initial investigations indicate that the fire may have started in a section where chemicals were stored. Some employees have speculated that a short circuit could have triggered the blaze.
