Tata Motors Partners with Tamil Nadu Government for New Plant; Invests Rs 9,000 Crore in 5 Years: Tata Motors, a major player in the automobile industry, has joined hands with the Tamil Nadu Government to construct a vehicle manufacturing plant, revealing plans to invest Rs 9,000 crore over the coming five years. The announcement was made through an official statement filed by the company on Wednesday.
This collaboration is set to significantly boost employment opportunities in the region, with a commitment to create 5,000 new jobs.
This development follows closely on the heels of Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast initiating the construction of a factory in Tamil Nadu. This marks the second major investment in automobile manufacturing within just two months.
Dr. T R B Rajaa, Tamil Nadu's Minister of Industries, hailed the initiative, highlighting the state's emergence as a prime destination for investments. He expressed optimism about Tamil Nadu's prosperous future, attributing it to Chief Minister's dedication to fostering employment opportunities for the youth and bolstering industrial growth.
"With Tamil Nadu's swift progress in recent years, we've cemented our position as a hub for investments," stated Dr. Rajaa. "Under our Chief Minister's leadership, we're not merely establishing factories; we're paving the way for dreams to flourish and propelling towards a brighter future."
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged in the presence of Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin. The agreement was signed by V Vishnu, IAS, Managing Director & CEO, Guidance, and PB Balaji, Group CFO, Tata Motors.
The ceremony was attended by key figures including Dr. TRB Rajaa, Minister for Industries, Arun Roy, IAS, Secretary of Industries, Investment Promotion & Commerce Department, and senior officials from Tata Motors Group.
Following the signing of the MoU, teams from Guidance, Tamil Nadu's agency for investment promotion and facilitation, and Tata Motors Group will collaborate to advance this opportunity.
