Vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors is all set to bring a new electric Tigor. The company can launch it next week. The new Tigor EV will offer more range than the current model. Currently, the Tigor EV comes with a 16.2 kWh battery, which gives a range of 142 km on full charge once. It is likely that the new Tigor electric with a greater range will run for 200 kilometers on full charge. The new model may also be available for private buyers, while at present the Electric Tigor is only for fleet operators.
The current model of Tigor Electric has a 72 volt, AC induction motor. This motor generates 40.23 bhp power and 105 Nm torque. It takes about 6 hours to fully charge its battery. With a DC 15 kW fast charger, the battery can be charged up to 80% in 90 minutes. The top speed of the current model is kept at 80 kilometers per hour, as it is available only for commercial use.
Why do US electric cars run 700-750 km in a single charge, then why not in India. Now even cars powered by solar power have come in the market. The Tigor EV is available in two variants - XM and XT. Their ex-showroom price in Delhi is Rs 9.17 lakh and Rs 9.26 lakh respectively. This price includes a subsidy of Rs 1.62 lakhs available under Fame-2. The electric Tigor standard is based on the Tata Tigor sedan. Both variants of this electric car have features such as automatic climate control, power windows, Harmon audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, height adjustable driver seat and adjustable front headrest. Apart from these features in the XT variant, alloy wheels and electric out side rear view mirrors have also been provided.
