Today i.e. 18 April is the death anniversary of Tatya Tope. Today, on this special occasion, important information related to his life is going to be given to you. Tatya Tope was born in Yeola in 1814. Tatya's real name was Ramchandra Pandurang Rao, but people affectionately called him Tatya's name. The father's name was Pandurang Trimbak Bhat and mother's name was Rukmini Bai. He was born in a Deshastha Kulkarni family.

For your information, let us tell you that his father Bajirao was the head of the religion department of Peshwa. Seeing his scholarly and dutiful devotion, Bajirao honored him in the Rajsabha by giving him a cap studded with valuable Navaratna Navaratnas, since then he was nicknamed 'Tope'.

At the time of the freedom struggle, Tatya adopted the strategy of guerrilla warfare on 18 June 1858 after the heroics of Rani Laxmibai. There are many tales of guerilla warfare by Tatya Tope in the forests of Chanderi in Guna district, Isagarh as well as in Pohri, Kolaras in Shivpuri district. The same, on 7 April 1859, Tatya was caught by deceit while sleeping in the Shivpuri-Guna forests. Later, the British quickly prosecuted and sentenced Tatya to death on 15 April 1859 in treason. Later on the evening of 18 April 1859, immortal martyr Tatya Tope of Krantivir was hanged near Shipri Durg near Gwalior. On this day, he had surrendered to the motherland, putting the noose of his hanging around his neck.
