Visakhapatnam: Tension prevailed in Nimmada region of Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. In the case of alleged threats by the police, TDP State unit president and MLA. Achennayadu is arrested. The YSR Congress has accused the TDP leader that Achchenyadu has threatened his sarpanch candidate.

Achhennaidu was arrested from his house on Tuesday morning and taken to Kotambamali Police Station. Achhennaidu's wife Vijaya Madhavi has filed nomination for the post of sarpanch from Nimmada as a TDP candidate. While YSRCP has fielded Kinjarapu Appanna, who is a close relative of Achennaidu. Appanna has alleged that when he arrived to enrol with YSRCP colleagues, Achennaidu threatened him. On January 31, there was tension in the area as there was a quarrel between the two groups.

The Kotambamali Police has registered a case against 22 people, including Achennayadu. Police said that Achennayadu will be produced in the local court. Meanwhile, the TDP is now denouncing the arrest of Achennaidu and calling it a political vendetta. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has termed the arrest of Achennayadu as a petty politics. In a statement, Naidu said that due to the growing feelings against the Panchayat elections YSRCP, CM Jaganmohan Reddy and his government are taking action against TDP leaders.
