Teachers' Day is celebrated in India on 5th September every year. This is the day dedicated to teachers. On this day students give gifts to their teachers and express their feelings for them. You must be aware that this is the day when dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a scholar, and Bharat Ratna awardee was born. Yes and his birth anniversary is celebrated as Teachers' Day. In fact, Dr. Radhakrishnan was born on 5th September 1888 and was a great educationist and the First Vice President and second President of independent India.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born in a Telugu family and wrote the book The Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan had a Master's degree in Philosophy and played a very big role in putting Indian philosophy on the global map. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan also taught at Presidency College and Calcutta University in Chennai. Not only that, but he also served as vice-chancellor of Andhra Pradesh university (from 1931-1936). He also taught Eastern religion and morality in Oxford since 1936.

Dr. Radhakrishnan always encouraged the youth to move forward. Talk about Teachers' Day, this day is celebrated with great enthusiasm in every school and college. Students gratify their teachers through poems, plays, speeches, and other creative programmes on this day.
