Teachers Day is celebrated every year on 5 September. This is the day you worship your teachers. On this day you worship those gurus who have given you knowledge of the best things in life. India has a wonderful history of teaching and academics, as far as education is concerned, the skills, contributions, talents of many of our academics, teachers and lecturers have been accepted globally. Today we are going to tell you about 5 such teachers who are known even today for their education.

* Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
September 5, the birth date of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, is celebrated as Teacher's Day. He was one of the most outstanding teachers of philosophy. Once some students asked him if he could celebrate his birthday, Radha Krishnan replied, "Instead of celebrating my birthday, I would be proud to celebrate September 5 as Teacher's Day." Henceforth his birthday was celebrated as Teachers' Day.

* Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
The 11th President of India and Missile Man Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was a great supporter of education, he believed that apart from having only an academic degree, a student should also enhance his personal skills and abilities. He has provided education in many universities of Shillong, Ahmedabad, Indore, Hyderabad, Bangalore.

* Chanakya
One of the best gurus of India, Vishnugupta, also known as Kautilya, Chanakya, was the guru of the then emperor Chandragupta Maurya. Following the teachings of Chanakya, Chandragupta became the emperor of India. Chanakya believed that education is man's most loyal friend because educated man gets respect everywhere. He is known for his political teachings.

* Swami Vivekananda
Education gives perfection to human beings, these sentences were of Shri Ram Krishna Paramhansa's disciple Swami Vivekananda. His teachings and philosophy also educated people for various aspects of social issues related to India along with education, faith, character building. He propagated the ancient Gurukul system of India, where educational institutions and homes blend together and where teachers and students live together and work in close and harmonious relationship.

* Savitribai Phule
Savitribai Phule was the first female teacher in India to raise voice for female education in India, who also opened a separate school for women's education. At a time when the potential of women was underestimated, they worked for the upliftment and education of women in the country. With the help of her husband, she also opened a school for the then untouchable girls. Her contribution to women's education will always be remembered.
