Bangalore: The Basavaraj Bommai government in Karnataka has taken a major decision on school and college teachers wearing hijabs. Under this, now these teachers will not be put on duty in secondary school leaving certificate (SSLC) and exam in pre-university (PU). Minister for Primary and Secondary Education BC Nagesh has told the media that there will be no dress code for government employees.

B.C. Nagesh further said, "Students are not allowed to wear hijab inside the examination hall, so morally we are not forcing teachers. In such a situation, we have decided to remove the teachers who are insisting on wearing hijab from the exam duty. The principal of the Government PU College in Mysore has said, "If there is a shortage of inspectors in the PU examination, we can also call the high school teachers. Former Vice-Chancellor of Bengaluru University and academic M S Thimmappa termed the government's order as logical and said that we cannot take different attitudes for students and teachers. The former VC suggested that the only solution to this dispute is to dismantle the uniform concept. "I feel like the dress code brings a sense of equality, while it is the mindset and attitude that build the concept of equality. The removal of the uniform may be radical, but it will be the best solution to the dispute. '

Let us know that these days the SSLC exam is going on in Karnataka and will end in the middle of April. At the same time, the PU exams will start at the end of this month. Last week, a teacher was removed from examination duty in Mysore district for insisting on wearing a hijab. Seeing the controversy escalating, teachers of government and aided schools have been put on duty for SSLC and PU examination. Recently, seven teachers in Gadag district of Karnataka were suspended for allowing Muslim girl students to wear hijab in the SSLC exam. The exams were going on at CS Patil Boys' High School in Gadag and CS Patil Girls' High School, the teachers who were suspended included su hokkald, SM Pattar, SG Godke, SS Gujamgadi and VN Kivudar, KB Bhajantri and BS Honagudi.
