Ind vs Eng: 'We could have done better..,' India's batting coach furious at the batsmen

New Delhi: After a disappointing show with bat and ball against hosts England on day four in the ongoing fifth Test at Edgbaston, Team India's batting coach Vikram Rathour has said that India could have done better as a batting unit and knocked England out of the game, But they failed to do so. Let us know that Team India was bowled out for 245 runs in their second innings and could only give England a target of 378 runs.

In reply, England managed to score 259 runs on the back of Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root's 150-run partnership and a century partnership of openers. England has just lost three wickets. Joe Root (76) and Bairstow (72) are at the crease and thus England now needs 119 runs to win the match. Today i.e. Tuesday is the fifth day of the match and the result of this match seems to be going in England's favour.

After the end of the fourth day's play, India's batting coach Vikram Rathour said in a press conference, "We had a very normal day with the bat. We were ahead in the game. We were in a situation where we could have knocked England out of the game, but we couldn't do it. Many players started well, but could not convert them into big scores. Hopefully, one of them would play a big inning or have a big partnership, but we couldn't do that. We should have shown a better game as a batting unit.''

He also said that the weather cannot be an excuse for the poor bowling performance so far in the last innings, with Root-Bairstow putting the hosts in a strong position. He further said "We needed to bowl better, bowl in better areas. However, Rathore has expressed hope that fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami can make India's return to the match on the final day of the ongoing fifth and final Test against England. He said: "It's still a big target. There are still 119 runs left. We can still do well, two wickets early the next morning and the match will be stuck again.''
