Shiva told the media that he was infected with the disease, but he did not have a house large enough to isolate himself in a room. Shiva said that in the meantime he came up with the idea of staying on the tree. He said he has spent 11 days on the tree since then.
Residents said the nearest primary health centre (PHC) from their village is 5 km away and the people of these settlements have to travel 30 km to get treatment for a serious disease.
