New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) is all set conduct a meeting on Friday to decide whether the assembly elections in Telangana can be held together with the polls in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. An official told that the EC had the necessary infrastructure – such as EVMs and VVPATS -- to club the Telangana elections with the other forthcoming assembly polls but it required to be checked if the state’s electoral rolls have been updated.

Reports suggested that the commission will take a call on the Telangana elections after receiving a detailed report from the chief electoral officer of the state on a number of aspects linked to the level of attentiveness for the polls.

The report by the chief electoral officer will face all the aspects such as state holidays, examination schedules and weather conditions, the second official told HT.  As a sign the political winds blowing in Telangana, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrashekar Rao, or KCR as he’s well known, launched a roasting attack on Congress president  Rahul Gandhi immediately after recommending the dissolution of the state assembly on Thursday. He dubbed the Congress president as the “biggest buffoon” in the country. Earlier a day , He said “The whole country has seen how Rahul Gandhi went and hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament and winked,”.

The chief minister stated while addressing the media. On the other hand The Congress has accused KCR of being a “BJP stooge”. As per the official rules, polls need to be conducted in a state within six months of the dissolution of the assembly.
