Hyderabad: Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, the Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly, has tested positive for Covid-19. He posted on Twitter on Thursday saying that he was found positive after a Covid test was performed on him last night as part of routine medical testing. On the recommendation of doctors, Srinivas Reddy has entered the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG) Hospitals at Gachibowli, despite the fact that he currently has no health difficulties.

As a precaution, the speaker has requested that those who have met him in the last few days undergo Covid testing and remain in home isolation. On November 21, he officiated his granddaughter's wedding in Hyderabad. The wedding was attended by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The ceremony was also attended by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, as well as various ministers and leaders from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and other parties.

Srinivas Reddy is the second prominent Telugu leader to test positive in the last few days. On November 17, Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan was airlifted from Vijayawada to Hyderabad after being infected with Covid. He was discharged on November 23 after receiving treatment at AIG Hospitals in Hyderabad.
