Telangana Government ties up with OLA to lessen Road accidents

Ola Cabs is an application based Indian origin online taxi Rental Company and the Telangana government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to reinforce the traffic infrastructure in the city. The first pilot ventured proposed to be executed under this MoU is the dynamic mapping of riding quality of major streets in Hyderabad through the network of vehicles operating on the application’s platform.

This information will be given to individual departments of the Telangana government, which screen road conditions and keep up their overall quality in Hyderabad. The purposed result of this pilot is to lessen accidents due to potholes, monitor the quality of street construction, and organize road repair budget, said a press release from the state government on Monday. This new partnership will see Ola, share ‘intelligent insights’ that empower the state to execute smart solutions to the mobility experience in the city, added the release.

“With mobility assuming a key role in the development of a city and our attention on building a comprehensive smart city plan for Hyderabad, these important data insights from Ola will make the path towards building future-ready transport infrastructure," said Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, industries and commerce (I&C) and IT department, the government of Telangana, in the release.
