Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee core members demanded on Wednesday that the Hyderabad floods should be declared a national disaster. The committee has sought rs 5,000 crore for relief and rehabilitation measures instead of Rs 550 crore announced earlier.

Yesterday the party's core committee meeting was held in Pragnapur. The meeting was attended by Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikrama, TPCC Working President and MP A Jaganmohan Reddy, MLC T Jeevan Reddy, MLA D Sridhar Babu, former Ministers Ponnala Lakshmaiah, P Sudarshan Reddy along with AICC secretaries G Chinna Reddy, SI Sampath Kumar, C Vanshichand Reddy and former MP Mallu Ravi.

Here, the TPCC Core Committee demanded that the state government give Rs 20,000 per acre as immediate relief to farmers facing severe crop loss due to heavy rains. They wanted the government to complete the crop loss calculation and purchase damaged, high humid paddy, cotton and maize crops. On behalf of the Congress party, they decided to appoint a Congress cadre team led by former MP Madhu Yashki Goud to oversee the relief and rehabilitation activities undertaken by the Congress leadership.
