Hyderabad: 120 chickens died in a span of two months at Koppur in Bhimdevarapalli zone of Warangal urban district. This has created an atmosphere of panic.
A veterinarian from Bhimdevarapalli Malti examined the dead chicken and sent the samples to an animal hospital in Warangal for testing, from where the samples were transferred to Hyderabad.
Earlier, Animal Husbandry Minister Talsani Srinivas Yadav had said that there were no cases of bird flu in the state and special teams had been appointed to liaise with poultry farms to combat bird flu.
The state forest department on Thursday directed the authorities to take steps to identify the possible cause of death of any bird in Telangana. State Chief Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Wildlife Warden R. Shobha said orders have been issued to zoo officials in Hyderabad and Warangal and teams have been set up at various bird and wildlife sanctuaries in the state to keep patrols in areas where migratory birds come.
